My Brother passed this case on to me recently cause he doesn’t have the space anymore. I almost ripped it off his hands lol. This was purchased at Mannys in NYC. They don’t make them anymore!!

Saludos, I have one from 1988 which still in good condition also. Lately I've been using a wheeled box similar to a pelican or seahorse case so instead of carrying you just roll your bongó to the gig.

Looks pretty durable and protective, similar to a pelican. Can you stand it up on its end to put your bell on it when you are playing bongo, or is the end not flat enough?

Saludos, yes you can . That is what I like about it. Also has a telescopic retractable handle, 4 wheels and a solid rubber piece to level it whit the wheels while on the upright position.

Great idea, the soft case I use is nice and light and has a shoulder strap if I need to take the subway or bus, but I always have to find a chair or something else to put the bell on. I will look at the Pelican cases to see if there is still anything like what you have still available.

I’ve been lucky enough to drive to gigs. But there were times I wish my case had wheels and a handle. I like playing around with different options for carrying and storage. Here’s a few. The MKE Bag works great to carry a set. The LP Cajon Bag is great for storage.

Saludos y gracias. The Seahorse SE830 looks great, very protective against water and physical damage, not too heavy, could stand on end to put a bell, and would meet airline carry-on size limits. I am just not sure it will fit Matador bongos which I measure at 19"x10"x8". The 7.8" interior case dimension is without foam and I would want to put at least a 1/8" rubber or neoprene sheet protector inside on top and bottom to protect the skins and keep the lug ends from breaking the plastic case, so the 7.8" depth of the case would be about 0.45" smaller than the 8.25" needed. Not sure if the case and rubber would flex/compress enough to fit. I may have to find a place that sells Seahorse cases and actually try it out. The largest Pelican that meets carry-on size is even smaller in depth at 7.6", so I may need to forget about the carry-on size and just get a bigger case and check it if I need to fly.

Thanks Josean. Yeah, I looked at that one too, it is a lot larger and doesn't make carry-on size but would work well otherwise. Thanks for your suggestions, I had never heard of Seahorse cases before. Interesting company, started out as Fuerte cases and located in El Cajon, CA.
