Hi everyone,

I stumbled across this bong at ebay and wonder what series by Afro it might be. The seller couldn´t tell me the size of the heads ???
And in any case: Is it recommendable? (Perhaps as a second pair of bongos?) i like the traditional rims...

Alright, I already guessed something like that. The shells are definitely by Afro, though (I think there´s this distinct indenture in the middle like in the Elite series).
So the bongo must be from an older Afro Primero Series

I´d rather stay with my Afro Elite, thanks to you!

Cheers,
Mike

I agree regarding Primero line or any other sub class other than top ;ine models in most cases. Some decent models came w/ vert thin metal versions of comfort rims & they warp easily & a player is stuck w/ special ordering replacement parts that no one stocks any way ! The Afros w/ black traditional rims & Valje looking shells are like Matador Lp's, just less chrome & lower quality heads than top of line model. But decent shells as good as any Asian wood shells. Always, it is the heads that make a bongo sound good. If the hard wares are good & good heads etc....then they are up to the task of playing. Some top line bongos are over priced crap by comparison.

This Afro bongo mentioned above is a GREAT drum .
Verry sturdy hardware buillt like a tank .
It dous in no way looks like an aspire or anything !
If i could get another one i'll go for it !!!

I have one for 13 years with thick skins .And never detuned it !
Always used it at jams and it cut's right through everything .
I's verry loud no amplification needed !
I don't like mic's anyway's i don't play with amplification if not needed !!!!

And i think that a lot of conga players who use amplification hide there lack of techniek .
