Here is a picture of Rogelio "Yeyito" Iglesias,in my book, the best bongocero ever. I loved Mongo like a father, I also love Armando, but I think Yeyo has the edge.
Yeyo is pictured here with a Gonzalo Vergara quinto, also there is Bienvenido Granda, a Cuban crooner.
Yeyo was right handed, but played with the hembra on the left.

Which one is Yeyo?

Yeyito is the one with the Cuban quinto.It was made by Gonzalo Vergara in the 50's. Vergara congas are the STRADIVARIOUS of congas,very hard to get a hold of.

Is a SONOC (Sonoridad Cubana) is a Cuban tumbadora made from Cahoba wood, a wood on the endangered list, production of Cahoba stopped int the late 80's. They came after Vergaras, its a very melodic conga,great sound the only thing they tend to split,probably on account the glue in Cuba is sub-standard. I have 2 left at one point I had 5. Junior Tirado fixed them for me. Saludos, Dario

I didn't know that Cahoba is endangered...
