Issues with Skyndeep synthetic skin

Finally I decided on a synthetic skin for my Meinl Livesound streetwarrior bongó.

Well, I had ordered a Skyndeep macho skin, and it arrived after a 4-month wait!
But what a disappointed, it does not fit at all! And I cannot return it either as it was a special order...
Neither on my LP bongó

The only rim I could squeeze it under at all was the one of my least desirable bongo, namely a Schalloch with black hardware. Oh well, lesson learnt.

Saludos, wow! That is sad. However, I have been using them on all my bongos (Lp, Moperc, 3A,etc) with no fitting issue. For example yesterday I mounted one on the CVS which is a boutique type. What about pushing out the crown ears?

I have thought about bending the ears, but would have had to bend them considerably, so
I decided against that option.

What about using the crowns of the Bongo that you don't like much and mounting them on the one you like? Another option would be buying or making some crowns that fit the skindeep.

Thanks for you input, Josean! :D
Well, but as for me, aesthetically I could not bear a mix of black powdercoated and chrome hardware.
It´s all good, the Schalloch is not such a bad bongó after all, very sturdy with 3/8" lugs
that allow high pitch tuning. Here´s a pic:

And the skyndeep skin sounds amazing, really good.

Well, my experience with these heads has been a mixed one. I ordered a Fyberskyn 3 and in less than 2 weeks the head un-glued from the rim just before starting a jam! Thanks God I was close to home and get my 3A bongó. The best are the tucked and the Skyndeep "S" series. So far so good on my LP and Timba bongos. I'm waiting for a set of Evans for my 1974' Gon Bops. I bought it from Woodbrass and wings. When you order it through ebay, the shipping is free and in 3 days you receive it!

Cheers!
