Hi,edge of hembra on my "El Piernas"clearly uneven...I could see and feel uneveness of hembra edge by just passing my finger around edge, and it would go up and down, instead of smoothly going arround. Then I removed the skin, and the uneveness was even clearer.Do any of you have this issue with their "El Piernas"? Thanks.J6.

Saludos John 6,
Did you buy your set brand new from El Piernas or was it a second handed purchase? The reason that I ask is because if you dealt directly with Adolpho, Natividad or Hector Rocha they would replace the irregular equipment with a swap of a new one. I had an issue with a brand new replacement macho head which had a razor nick near the bearing edge and Adolpho swapped it out without hesitation. I think he would do the same if the purchase of the bongo was made directly from him. Otherwise the best remedy would likely be to try sanding the uneveness to a level top bearing edge of the hembra. The bongo I bought was in perfect condition, a bit on the heavy side but that's the only issue with the handmade construction of this brand of bongo. It has an a very good sound to it. I may replace both of my heads though with something thinner in thickness. This is just my own opinion on this subject there may be other members of the forum who could shed another light on your problem. Best of luck with the resolvement of your problem. Peace...

Jorge.

Hi,Salcero1,I bought it from Oscar ,Natividad's husband.First there was a hole in the hembra skin, which he is sending a replacement for..but then when I had more time I saw there was the uneveness of the rim...I thought I could live with it,cause bongo sounds good, but I might need to return it.Thanks,S1,they are on heavy side, but more comfortable than I thought, macho a little thick too.Have a good one.J6

Hey Johnny6,
I am interested in purchasing a set of HR bongos. I was wondering if you ever got that problem taken care. When purchasing your set, did the transaction go well?
Thanks,
Madlatin

I owned 2 Hr in the pass without any type of failure, cracking or other defects. May be was bad luck on your part or the quality inspector at HR did not show to work the day of making your Bongó :D . If you bought them from Naty or Oscar, why was that defect not resolve by them?

Hi,Oscar was very nice, and offered a refund or replacement at a later date, since he did not have any new bongos on hand. After I received new skin, the bongo sounded nice,so I decided to live with the uneven edge, which does not seem to affect sound, but I just sanded lightly the part of the edge most used. This is a serious company, with good customer service,I decided to keep it,due to colour/sound combo, and price point.J6.
