SONOC QUALITY????

There is someone selling a set of Sonoc Bongos in Craigslist and the bongos are described as being able to stand up to Matthews, JCR, and Skin on Skin...but as you look at the picture closely, the Macho (smaller drum ) you can see that it is mounted both crooked from the Center Block, and the Head itself has been tuned incorrectly so that it is way down on one side. I can understand if someone tunes his Bongo incorrectly but it is ovious that the center block was not given any attention to detail when the Bongos were made. I do not see anything here that yells out to me Quality! Give me a set of Upper end LP's , JCR, SOS, Matthew, El Piernas, anyday. Sorry to put these Sonocs down, but I just don't get it.

Take a look and see for yourself.

I do not know but this set looks similar to a set of SONOC bongos Guitar Center was selling
about a month ago on their website for something like 45 bucks.

If that's the case the price was a great deal. It must have been returned because of faulty craftmanship. If it's the same one that is. Either way...450 dollars is a lot of money these days and to buy those bongos for that amount of money is not being very smart. Sometimes people get caught up on a "NAME" . I had a drum maker make me some hardware not long ago for some bongo shells I had and even though the Chrome Plating work was excellent, the bongos came back crooked because of the center block. I paid good money, but I did not contact the maker about it.I figured never again with that maker. Sometimes Mass Produced percussion is the better way to go.

It could be the same set. If I remember correctly the Guitar Center that was selling
that particular set I am talking about was located in California. Sorry but that set
on craigslist is not worth $450.00. No Way.

Sometime people complain and thrash companies like LP and they do not know what they are
talking about. LP are instruments that are able to withstand the wear and tear of everyday playing
on the road while sounding good. I see the pro's playing them all the time, live, studio recordings, etc.

Totally agree with Ritmo. If you are patient you will come upon much better deals on e-bay, take for instance a set of Classic Bops, or Timbas, not to mention S.O.S.
Sorry but it does not take an expert to see that the quality of these bongos is poor.
Cheers.
