Hey guys looking for some help to stop my head from spinning. I am looking for some bongos to pull double duty for salsa and bachata for personal use.

my price range i would like to spend its around the $150 range. In looking on the internet and talking to the guys at rhythm traders i have sorta narrowed it down.

is there something im missing or is there a real diff between the 2. I understand that eventually they will both need improved skins to be better but what like to keep it simple for now. also by jumping to $200 or above and I really going to see a big difference

Welcome to the place with a lot of different opinions!

Both the LC and the Matador are decent and if you are willing to go for a used one, usually good-as-new, on Ebay or CL you can probably find one for $60-$75. $25-$50 more to upgrade the skins.

If you want to start off with a new one, not a bad idea, and keep it forever, I'd say for another nickle you can go first class. There are still some new, but not being made anymore, LP Valje's around or the LP "Dandy." Best new bongos for the buck IMO. Shop around and haggle a bit and stay under $200.

For that price range, I'd go for the Matadors or the Toca Traditionals, these I'd say give the most bang for the buck.
