Sonorida Cubana or Sonac Bongos, I can't tell what type of wood since they are painted blue but very nicely done looks factory. In Great condition just got these but I might be selling in order to pay for repairs on the Junior Tirado conga. Just thought I would put it out there

Can you see what they look like on the inside? I'm very interested in purchasing those from you, I've got some sonoc congas at Matts right now that've been there for about a year so I should be getting them back soon, I'd love to have those to complete the set, if you're selling please let me know or maybe we can do a trade for some pallisades park mahoganies or some gon bops mahoganies.
pcastag@hotmail.com , i'm in Houston.

Heres the requested photo of inner shells. I polished the chrome and placed 4 new lugs on them too. I have not tuned them yet it is too early and I'm on the way out. They are staved. Sorry guys I need the cash but have not decided If I'm selling them yet anyway. I will keep everyone posted.

Cool, looks like it might be the same reddish cedar my bata are made of, I've also got a conga from santiago made of that same cedar, it's solid but a bit soft, heavy though, it also has a distinct smell. Wonder what year those were made.

I saw those on Ebay with a "buy it now" for $160 about 2 weeks ago. Rustic hardware but they project really nice. I have had 2 pairs.

Dario how would you compare them to the mahogany pallisades park LPs'?

As far as sound, they both sound great. The SONOC crowns leave a lot to be desired, I had the late Junior make crowns to replace the originals, then I sold them down the road. Pallisades Park mahogany bongos are the best LP ever made, the turn off point for me is the cast bottoms on them. I have a pair of Zebra wood Pallisades that I really love with original LP Cuban style bottom hoops.
Every SONOC instrument sounds great, but the hardware is very ordinary in my opinion.

Doc, you can clean that chrome with aluminun foil. Use the shinny side and just rub the hardware. The places where the foil can not reach, use chrome polish paste with a hard tooth brush. Use a soft cloth for a nice finish. Guarda la receta.

Thanks Caballo, but I have already polished them, being retired Military I still have a big cam of Never Dull. I use it on most of my chrome and it works great next time I willl try the aluminum foil. Gracias. Hey have you been to the Rumba in Playa Azul if you do ask for Willy (trumpet)and let him know that Israel says hello, or Kike el Cantante de Rio Grande, alot of the guys there should remeber me. Back to the Bongos they now look good and sound even better
