Anyone of our vintage experts know anything about these babies?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... K:MEWNX:ITI just picked them up , looks like mahogany with the fiberglass layer on the outside like they used to do with their congas. Figured I'd clean em up, fix the seam and put on some new skins, should be a nice sounding set.

OK, so looks like some elbow grease, new heads and glue I'll have a nice set of vintage Gon Bops. Are the bongos made out of the same phillippine mahogany as the congas?

WEll, I won't have to worry about the extreme temp. changes that cause that too much here in Houston.

I can tell from one of the auction pictures that those bongos are made from the philipine mahogany, Should be nice and light wtih a dry sound if they are anything like the philipine mahogany congas. Nice score and a good price. A real fun project, I wish I had seen them.

Got them today, the hembra came apart into three pieces when i took the head and bottom rim off, I'm gluing that baby right now, will sand and put a light oil coat on this weekend, hopefully get some heads from L$H by next week, get them up and running by the weekend, should have a nice sound compared to my old generation II's both fiberglass and wood.
