Bongoceros, I have never read anything about the Alex Acuña Bongó on this forum. I traded my Cp with Maelo and I got the Acuña, I was looking for a Bongó which I could use anywhere without worry about anything happening to it like for example if I drop it or if somebody want to play it ect, ect. It is a compact 7" and 8.5" kind of lite and not, made of 3/4" Ash wood, very very easy to tunne and also very comfortable between the legs. The Acuña which is a copy of the California series is already sounding great thanks to some cow skins I had laying around. I am going to use it for a small gig I have tonight so let's see how it performs on stage with a full Salsa Band.

				Hola Caballo !!
I always wanted to check out the AA models- congas. Those bongos look just a good as the CA models.
Please do let us know your opinion on the gig.
After getting my SOS's, not sure I need to get any more bongos

With a back up of LP Valje, I have a kick around set. Still have a LP Gen II collecting dust. But the GB -AA's look mighty nice.

Tonio, como estamos ? The AA did his job last night (I think I need an extra boost of PuertoRican Coffe this morning to get me going) cutting thru the band sounding great. Like I said it is compact, not too heavy or lite & has great volume. I am thinking about installing a Fyberskin on the Macho for a little more volume, that way it is another thing I do not have to worry, a fyberskin should not split in a long time. I am really happy with the AA but My fellow Conguero wants to buy it so I may let go. I have 7 Bongos at home, they are getting to be too many.
This AA reminds me the LP Valje which you have laying around, don't make the same mistake I did, I traded the Valje for a custom paint job on another Bongó which I end up selling. The Valje with the right skins ( the Dandy is kind of a replica of the Valje with a bigger Hembra ) will sound better than most Lp Bongos.

Vaya Caballoballo! I'm glad you liked the bongo! I loved that drum but had to sell ($$$ and too many drums) I'll tell you, I was offered many trades (LPs, even a Dandy) but the only trade that interested me was what you offered (CP-awsome), as I never had a Colombian bongo before. I'm glad it found a rightful home, in the hands of someone who truly appreciates a good instrument. Donde tocaron anoche? Take care-

We Played last Night at Hotel Grand Meliá then on Feb 12 there is a gig at The Humming Bird Balcony with Orq SalSaChé, then with Orq Tropical Jamn on the 20 we have a wedding ceremony and on the 27 we will alternate with El Gran Combo at Salinas. Also on Fridays I am at Latin Roots as a Salsa Dj, we are very close to play there with Tropical Jamn.
Glad you like the Cp, I know is in good hands just take him out to dance so other could drool for a while.

Didn't your AA come with Nuskyn heads? Or do you prefer fiberskyn's ,and if so why?

Dangler, no the AA came with factory junk skins. Preference, fyberskin over nuskin any time althought I am a natural skin player which have the authentic sound but I always carry a fyberskin in my gig case for emergencies.
Juancho Que Volá, on the 7 I should be off. Are you comming down here ?
