Marlon pictured with his Vergara Bongo, I also posted a photo of him with a Vergara conga in the congas area Picture thread. The heads are tacked on as were the early Vergara bongo. Just thought some of you would like to see this.

Check it out man, we had a post on James Dean and Marlon Brando and their history
with congas a while back.
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2265&hilit=brandoNice photos, especially that other one you put in the pictures thread hadn't seen that.
I have one pic from the auction where they sold Marlon's congas

If I am not mistaken back in the glory days of the Palladium "Home Of The Mambo"
Mr. Brando used to frequent the place. Not hard at all to imagine Mr. Brando
seating-in from time to time with the house bands.

Here is a picture featuring classic Gonzalo Vergara congas. Vergara was the pionner that inspired the likes of Ismael in PR, Junior Tirado and Jay Bereck in NYC and Carlos Landaeta (Pan Con Queso) in Venezuela.
Enclosed Jose Fajardo (flauta charanguera) with Cuban tumbadores playing Vergara congas. The real dark skin tumbador was nick named "Nat King Cole" and was Fajardo's tumbador. In charanga format, only one tumbadora was used. "Fajardo Te Pone A Gozar"!
Saludos,
Dario
