I have a Cachao album, I think is called "El Fantasma", is an obscure Cuban label. It features Tata on tumba, Barretico on timbales, Cachao, El Niño on tres, El Negro Vivar on trumpet and "Macho", Cachao's brother on piano and the incomparable Yeyito on bongo'. This album has the best bongo playing in history. Some of the tunes are "El Fantasma", "La Luz","DescargaÑañiga, Dscarga Guajira, "Descarga Mejicana".... This is Yeyito at his best, a must for every bongocero!

Omelenko,
Is this the one?
http://www.descarga.com/cgi-bin/db/1938 ... gbqj;;1863This one was reissued in 2002. Whether it is exactly the same or not, this CD is a killer. Check out Tata's monologue on La Luz! Only time I ever heard him speak (verbally) on a recording. Same crew as Descargas in Miniature, different songs. True masters at work.
I don't see El Fantasma on the song list, I have to go listen to it again and see if they renamed it or something when they reissued it.

Jorge,
That CD you mentioned has a lot of the tunes that I have on the album. The name of the album is "El Fantasma Del Combo" and its also the title track. I found the album on CD in Paris, France. The CD is called "Cachao Descarga Cubana" CDR 5544001 TUCOSO production. The tunes are:
EL FANTASMA DEL COMBO, DESCARGA MEXICANA, DESCARGA GUAJIRA, DESCARGA EN TROMPETA, LA LUZ, POTPURRI DE CONGAS, LA INCONCLUSA, DESCARGA ÑAÑIGA. All the tunes are outstanding, the the top 2 are "El Fantasma Del Combo" and "La Luz". Yeyito's bongo playing throughout the album is the best in bongo' history. This album has inspired the best bongoceros in the business, Dandy Rodriguez, Anthony Carillo, Papo Rodriguez, Orestes Vilato', Rolito Soto........ Yeyito was crossed eye, they called him "El Vizco", "Masa Limpia". Yeyito was right handed, but played the macho in his right (like a lefty).
Saludos,
Dario

I have just ordered this one, have always wanted it, but I have not looked for it because I did not think it was available
in Europe for a reasonable price, but it is...

Thanks for bringing my thoughts on the way, Jorge

This is the one, a double cd that has the Fantasma song as well, looks like a cd release of two LP's, it's on the way now, soon to be jamming !
It shares some songs with the 'Havana to New York' cd release, which was actually what opened my ears to this music, when I went for my first conga lessons I was a committed reggae fanatic until my teacher slipped me that cd for home study, listening to it was a true revelation.

Barrie,
I understand you. Watch out reggae fans - here comes a revelation indeed
After a long period of waiting, I have received this CD, and it´s gorgeous, the descargas all sound so fresh,
incredible - truly a stunning classic!
