What is the CD of percussion which you preferred recently?
I want to speak to to you about a brilliant disc that I
discovered accidentally. "Drum jam" by "Grupo Exploracion" whith Miguel Bernal, Juan Brown, Luis Cepeda, Harold Muiz, Mickael Spiro...
It is an album of afroCuban percussion with many inventions. Of the big percussif art...

Laurent, Drum Jam is a very nice CD! Have you heard Ralphy Irizarry's group Timbalaye? They have two Cd's already out. It is Latin Jazz! Check them out! You will dig it!

i just bought Bata Ketu by Michael Spiro and Mark Lamson. a really great fusion of afro-cuban and brazilian folkloric music!!!

Interesting CD you all mention!
My suggestions are not that up-to-date, but I found quite interesting:

Sin Palabras, House of Drums:
A really good mix (no fake fusion) of house (it´s a Frebch DJ who has emigrated somehow to Cuba), Yoruba chant and CUBAN PERCUSSION (a gozar!)

Re-released on CD, from the 1980s:
Guem et Zaka, Best of Percussion: Africa-based pure percussion (including magnificent melodic Congadrumming + improvising).
That´s something even my fifty-something colleagues dance to at our parties (well, this would be perhaps usually a bad sign ´cause many normally listen to elevator mainstream, but they are alright!)

check out a cd by a Brazilian artist called Dudu Tucci its called obatamale, its pure percussion mixed with vocals .the most amazing brazilian percussion ive ever heard.Its out on weltwunder records from germany.

interesting names... i'll have to check them out, is suggest anything by Ustad Alla Rakha, indian percussionist ,(playes with Pandit Ravi Shankar a lot) and mare trditional also a band called WOFA there from guinea, and their new album "Iyo" unfortunately i dont have this CD, but i'v heard songs of it and its amazing, pure percussion, african style.

"Conga Kings"...hot stuff on this one. Some 6/8 stuff that really nice to practice to. Although you wish the metales used the stereo for separation rather then for a dual speaker attack..... still enough hot stuff on this one to call for a purchase....very tasty strings section and awsome improv (it's gotta be).

I hope we are all buying at least occasionally at descarga.... can't afford to lose this database.... gotta pay the dues.... no connection to bruce by the way.... maybe spiritual.

of course, if it's on this site sales list... this is another good cause.
