Thanks everyone.
These babies are awesome. The sound is the best I have come across in 20 years (and that is out of the box!)
With 9 tuning lugs per drum they keep their pitch perfectly.

FWIW: I do not dare to think how well the sound will develop
over the next years once the skins are completely broken in!

Mike, What kind of skins are you packing on those?

They come already equipped with the best cow skins you can get in Germany, so there is no need for new skins.
Those rawhides Jost Reiche has picked match my idea of a perfectly sounding conga skin anyway.

@KING CONGA Thanks a lot for your kind words. I do enjoy those Reiches every day.
The sound is stunning, and the condition? Well I bought them new! ;)

Congratulations, they do look very nice. I have never seen congas before with 9 lugs, that would reduce the stress on each lug and on the rim between lugs. The skins look great, similar to skins Gon Bops used to use many years ago. I am happy to see some growth in the small but very old Afrocuban music tradition in Germany represented by this German conga builder and the few conga players and Afrocuban percussionists I have seen coming out of Germany.
Do you have any audio or video recordings you can post so we can hear them?

No audio or video yet, Jorge.
I simply have not had the time,
and I am also struggling with some
health issued at the moment.

As to the 9 lugs: tuning was a bit of a hassle at First,
but once a drum is tuned it holds its pitch incredibly well.

So Mike, you said that you bought them new, are you saying that they are still being manufactured? If so, can you provide us with the contact info? Thank you.
Are the drums stave built or are the a solid shell construction?

@King Conga
Yes, they are still being made by himself,
but only on demand via e-mail: See http://reiche-trommelbau.de/kontakt.html for details.
Superb stave construction all the way.

Thanks Mike for sharing. These are pretty awesome Tubs. I’ve been looking at a custom set, these are definitely at the top of the list. Hope you’re feeling well brotha.
