fiberglass & synthetic skin congas

Postby korman » Mon Aug 05, 2013 9:18 am

Hi all,

I need a set for bad / humid / cod weather. Ideally, I'd like to find a fiberglass full size (not travel or compact congas) set that comes with synthetic skin (preferably fiberskyn, not the nuskyn) right out of the box, but is there any such model? The fiberglass congas in music shops (Meinl, some LP and Sonor models) usually come with natural heads.

Thanks,
K

Pearl Bobby Allende congas are fiberglass and come with
fiberskyn out of the box.

Plus the Bobby Allende drums are light and look good. What about Remo Congas, there sharp too.

I do not think Remo congas are fiberglass congas.I believe they use
some kind of wood material called "ACOUSTICON".

Thanks for suggestions so far! I did not know about Bobby Allende series, they look good, and seem to sound good from what I can find on youtube.
I just have to see if I can get some, Pearl percussion is not so common around here.

Sometimes on the used market you can find the discontinued Toca "Premier" series in blue or red to black fade with fyberskin heads. These drums are 30" tall. The Allendes' are 28"

Hey, Guitar Center just got in some used Bobby Allende Congas! Here is the link, they (quinto, conga, tumba) are at the bottom of the page. Those are rearly ever for sale used anywhere. Jump on them, if you don't like, you can always send back.

The Remo congas that I tried were awful. The relationships between the different tones seemed off. Meanwhile there's a gazillion of those MDF djembes out in this big old wide world.
