Hello folks, I decided to give a new look to my Giovanni quinto,to fit better with my red Classic's

To be honest I never liked that gold hardware... so I removed it

I used permanent alizarim crimson(oil)for the tone, three layers of epoxy resin, sanding with water, and polish to add some glossy

They fit better now, with good mule skins from "el greco"

The quinto looks real good, great job.
The LP classics hue is more "wine color".
Nice contrast between the quinto and
the classics.

Thanks, ritmoboricua! You're right,I dind't find the exact tonality for the quinto,it's more bright then red wine classic's,but is ok,is a different drum anyway

Yup - that looks great. I have the same drum and have been debating with myself about stripping the gold chrome.

What technique did you use to pull off the gold??

Hello rhythmrhyme,
I used universal stripper(axton) and sandpaper. The action of the stripper was not to strong, but helps, the real work is sanding. Thanks and good luck

I am just curious if you can detect any difference in sound quality between the Gio and Classics being that one is made of siam oak and one is made of Ash? or does one project more than the other?

Thanks, congalu! It's the first time I work with epoxy resin, not a easy task, but the results are great :D

Hello Thebreeze, well I think that the gio model is more ressonant and bright, but the differences are very subtle,Galaxy project more, but they have a nasty ring too.
I saw this video about neutralizing shell overtones

http://youtu.be/UYQujazVBQQ
,and it works real good, but i dont agree to put a t-shirt on it,it kills your tone.I use just a thin band of tissue,I keep all the tones and NO RING ATT ALL!!I know it seems naif and low hi teck but it works, all my drum have this
anti ring 018.jpg
but in the end I love the gio quinto,is a great drum with a beautifull voice and shape
