Nice, this is the one that sold on ebay correct? How heavy is it? Is the wood oak? Bet it sounds nice.

This was from ebay. We have to put it on a scale, I have not done so yet. There is a lot of discussion on the wood but it has not been confirmed one way or the other. The skin is still drying. We'll play it tomorrow. I am leaning towards thinking it is Ismael but no way to know for sure. Thanks for the positive vibes!

Did you replace the bands?? the before pic looks like the bands were thicker, or maybe just the way I am looking at it. If they are different I would have wanted to keep the original bands. I see the hardware got cleaned up, and a new head, but what there any thing of significance that needed restoring?

Here is the first sound demo. The skin is still not completely dry so no crankage yet and playing it "mildly".

I asked Tony who restored this drum to go into more detail on exactly what he did and why. There were some serious cracks, very heavy duty. If you are interested I will post his reply as he did all the work and is much more knowledgable then me on restorations of congas, and the "why and how". :)

I'm happy to see that drum found a good home. I was tempted to bid on it, but had to restrain myself! Looks great too!
