Conga Cases

Postby torpedo tom » Wed Mar 13, 2013 6:10 am

Once I get my drums together, still waiting on getting the quinto and conga, I will be getting bags/cases for them. I'm looking at the LP Gio cases, the LP quilted, and the Protection Racket bags. I have had experience with the Gios which are nice bags as well as the Protection Rackets. I have the PRs for my regular drums. Never seen the LP quilteds in person. Does anyone have experience with any or all of these and if so which do you prefer? I like the PRs, but am open for suggestions. I am very careful and take care of my equipment, but need something to transport my drums in the back of my pickup when I go from Texas to Arkansas.

I've been doing business with Boston Drum. I'm not associated with them, just been getting some good deals. Talk to Sean (owner). Tell him Rocky sent you.

I have the PR cases and they are great and very durable. I also have the Meinl conga cases and they are a much better fit on congas. They are tapered in the shape of the drum and are padded pretty beefy. The PR cases are straight all the way down and there is a lot of move around room at the bottom of the cases. Both are very good for transporting your drums but the Meinl seem to me to be more protection for your drums (snug fit). The Meinl cases do fit the SOS congas because a forum member had an SOS quinto for sale in Phoenix and it was in a Meinl case..... Try ebay, a company named Greenbriar. I bought my PR cases from him and he worked with me on the price since I bought three....

Aren't the Meinl cases just like the LP Geovoni cases? They look alike.

The LP cases are thinner and not as close fit as the Meinl. Meinl has more padding and are smaller on the bottom and follow the contour of the drum.......

Got the Meinls in the three sizes. Been humping them around for almost ten years and they are good as new.
