The most interesting thing is how warm they sound as if they were natural hide but the color looks like it may be synthetic, the color of the heads look really dark. Check em out!

Those are ash with a dark gray stain and satin finish. Gon Bops kind
of have some like that on the Alex Acuna Specia edition series but
the Gon Bops have a glossy finish and the grain of the ash is popping
at you like the new Tycoon set.

They back in New York & I got to see some camcorder footage & they all agreed they sound good, not as strong as the Thailand Oak , but they size eachother in sound pretty much.
By the way I wanted to add that Gon Bop is really doing there thing this year.

Et voilà!! They sound good, but more melow, weaker, and with less projection,It's a bussines reality,Good wood is expensive and rare, they inovate, and they built worse and worse congas.(just my opinion)

They do sound fine, despite the magic tricks you can always apply
in those amplified setting. ABove all, Little Johnny knows what he is doing.
Here the old saying "it´s the Indian, not the arrow" might apply.

Also, I noticed the wooden base they are standing on. Did a quick search on their site, I like the antislip strips. Maybe worth checking it out.

LP website does not indicate the weight of their hand drums, which does not make sense for the drums that are manually held.
Has anyone here found out the weight of the LP durian bongo?

Cost of LP Conga Sound Platform? Anywhere from $44 -- $100+ depending on where you buy them.
