Vintage 70s Gon Bop / Requinto

Postby Jaisen Torres » Fri Jan 11, 2013 2:57 pm

I just finished my vintage Gon Bops Requinto.
Its a early 70s oak , with wood inlay , chrome hardware.
I brung the chrome back to life ... I also restored the shell .
It has an old school 2 tone finish , Brazilian Cherry , with natural oak.
I also mounted Bill confer old steer hide. The drum is in pristine condition & sounds beautiful !!!
This drum has alot of value to me it was given to me from my friend/brother . ( Will Perez ).
Here's some progress pics. Enjoy.

Hey Jaison,

Great job! Looks like a very good project.

How thick was the skin that you ordered. I am trying to get a better handle on skin thickness via pictures that I see here on the forum.

Have fun playing that guy.

Old Gon Bop's and Bill Confer skin's work very well together. All of mine are restored with them. Great job! I can guess how they sound.

Great job Jaisen, The drum now has a more Vintage look than before, but somehow modern if you know what I mean. I like the way you left that natural portion on for a dynamic contrast.
