Screw for plates

Hi !!
for my next drums, I will try new screw for my plates. Looks better, and better for the tuning because more place.

Brass is easy to work because it's soft. Have you used it before? I'm thinking it wont stand up to the tension you need on the skin. I've not tried it, but I did attempt building a cajon with brass screws, it looked sweet, but every single one stripped out.
Hope it works out for you. Would like to see the finished product!

The screw is in steel, only the plate is in brass. I think too that screw in brass is not strong enough, too soft.
Thanks !, it works pretty well, I will post photos of my next Ash wood quinto / conga / tumba. Coming in june, I think.

That brass looks sweet Galou! I think you'll be fine on strength, but that ring is gonna turn your finger green!
I can't wait to see those Ash drums, it's such a beautiful tone wood!
Here's a pic of my new Ash quinto. A requinto and bongos will follow in July.
