Removing head and ring, rotating to different position

Hi,
Sorry if this topic has been covered already but I couldn't find an answer to this question:
I have fiberglass congas from the 80's and am wondering if it's a good idea to remove the
head and ring [intact], rotate it 180 degrees and put it back on after cleaning. Would this be beneficial?
Assuming that half the head will now be pulled down on a different part of the drum,
will this change be good? Also my tumba ring is slightly oval: Does that mean if and when
I take the head and ring of [again I don't plan on changing the head] that my fiberglass drum
will be slightly oval too?
Heck. I've never taken a drum head off: does the head and ring come off intact and
you just put it back on?

Let´s be clear: If either the tuning rim or the drum shell is out of round,
then usually you will enter a major hassle if you plan to rotate the skin.
That being said, you CAN reshape out-of-round shell by rotating skins
gradually. I have done this with a Gon Bops conga, and it worked.
But I am not sure if you want that kind of trouble with a fiberglass conga.
Don´t know if that works with fiberglass (have my doubts actually).
Good luck

I have done this with wood congas and it has worked (Gon Bops and Valje). Get a marker and mark the head and crown at the 12 o' clock position, then move it to the 3 o'clock position, tune the head up and untune it in a few days (5 to 7 days). It usually resolves slight out of round conditions.
