Joseph,
On a second thought: the only thing that was putting me off just a little bit
were the recycled LP skins. My preference wound have been some top-notch
new skins, such as L&H cow skin or steer or anything.
You took so much effort in reestablishing an astonishingly fresh look in your
tubs that I really wonder why those beauties have seen "only" an LP skin.

Otherwise - perfect job!
Peace & drum

As stated, an experiment.....
....Eventually I’ll replace them, but for the price I really can’t complain.

Here we go….

If that is your objective, you've succeeded with me. I've got an old set of cracked Gon Bops that have been in one of my garages for years. I just might get to them this Summer.

You did a great job!! And, posted a great photo essay. I'm impressed, and inspired.

Didn't need to drill holes on the skin to thread the string.

I've done a bit of refurbishing and have a couple of projects for this summer - A solid shell Cuban Quinto, a nice Cuban Ashiko, solid Bongos, etc, etc.

This post help a lot with some ideas for these projects. Nice work and definitely inspiring for the DIY players of the Conga world! Thanks.

Peace...

You have done a great job! I did a refinish on an old drum and now I wish that I had also used the filler to smooth out the shell. Time consuming but, well worth it.
