Identifying an old Conga
Posted: Mon Oct 05, 2009 3:46 pmMy son lives in Florida and keeps an out for drums that he thinks I may like. He just picked this drum up from a Cuban gentleman who has had it for many years in his garage. He thinks its either Cedro because of its odor, or light colored mahogany (Caoba). He states the finish is flaking off and seems to be lacquer like. To me the crown looks like Sonoc and the side plates also like very early Sonoc but I'm not sure. What do you guys think?
