I just wanted to start a survey of how and where you store your congas
when you do not play them, especially when you have quite a bunch.
Other factors might be climate and space.
Personally speaking I do not like to put my beloved tumbadoras under the stress of
winter cold and alternate heating etc., so I have the congas I practice most on in
my home office.
As I am not Count Conga and do not live in a castle but a terraced house I lack
some space there.
Here is my solution I have built in the corner of my office between the chimney
and the outer wall, namely...:
The climate is good, no extreme temperatures in neither winter nor summer.
so the side effect is also that I can be a bit lazy with the tuning - they stay in pitch....a cupboard that contains what is most important: Two timbales sets and four congas (when I do not need them momentarily)!
Plus the instruments can be taken out and stowed away fairly easily.
And my wife is happy not to have to dance around the drums when vacuum-cleaning!

Four other, less expensive congas remain in the practice room. So it is not that much schlepp!
What about you? I do know that Abakua has a gym full of congas for example...

Some people stack a conga on top of another congas head (conga head against conga head) to save room..
i have done that.

Does that affect the head of the conga, or the shell by putting extra excess weight on top of it, any vetaerans wanna comment?
i have seen some of you fellas store the congas like that.

I would be afraid of marring or even scratching the conga heads if I stacked them the way you mention.
You know, I have a bunch of kids running around who might topple them, so I better play Mr. Safe

Very cool storage nook. My current parking space is not ideal, but I am fortunate to have a wife with a compromising view of my obsession. Here are my tubs encased in their custom Conga Condoms sitting next to the divider between family room where I practice and kitchen.

The bay window on my San Francisco apartment makes a little spot between it and my desk
where I can put my drums. I always keep them in the bags because if I didn't I would need to
find storage for those as well.

now most of you guys won't like it... mine are stored in the trunk of my car. I have absolutely no space home in winter.
I know, it's a shame...

Very nice car indeed! I have a Renault Scenic, the trunk can only hold two congas

well, I'd rather have a smaller car and space to store my drums inside...
