Hey, sorry I'm just seeing this
Primo barriles are usually 12-14 inches
Buleadores 14-16 inches,
These are approximate as barriles are a bit more rudimentary than congas
(also barriles are converted from congas outside of PR, but those really aren't barriles are they)
starting a project up?

Average height 22"to 24"
Southern style Barriles can be 28"-36" (Buleadors) as they are typically sat on.
The traditional southern style drums and style of playing have been slowly eroding however

Ponce (southern) style. Primo is the smaller one in front, buleador in back

To me bomba barriles sound is closer to djembe than conga.
Perhaps due the thinner "goat head" normally used on barriles.

Yes but, with the exception of the primo marking the dancer, the general sound of the buleador will be a bit more distorted than the sharp sound of the Djembe.

At JCR the Buleadores made were typically 15" x 25".

A good guy to ask is
Jorge Ginorio:
