Hi, I got a conga and tumbadora LP Matador Wood, with confort curve rims. If you could recommend me some skins I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Matadors are incredible drums. Basically any skin will work depending on the sound you are looking for.

You will have to figure out what the drum will mostly be used for. Wether you need loudness (band setting) or warm, rich tones (rumba setting).

There will be basically two options: synthetic or rawhide.

Synthetic - Remo Nuskyns, Fiberskins, etc.

Rawhide - Mule, Cow, Steer, etc. Mule being the best (just my opinion). Without disregard to good bullhide like Bill Confer's. Moperc's cow is very good too.

You may also contact congaplace member 'msb501clave' for a variety of skins (including mule). You also have El Greco &/or Isaac.

Refer to the 'skins suppliers list' - viewtopic.php?f=14&t=3336

If you have any more questions, you are in the right place to ask them!!

peace

Perfect 6x8, thanks a lot for the support. Im thinking about the synthetic, but I saw that the fiberskins have several numbers like 1,2,3 and other ones saids for toca. I really dont know the difference and if it fits anyway.

JoseLuisPR,

The numbers 1, 2, & 3, etc. (depending on where they're located within the product number) refer to either: (1) the type of synthetic (Fiberskyn, Nuskyn, etc.) or (2) the diameter of the hoop (if the number is placed at the end of the product number).

I personally called Remo's product support and initially had the same question as yours. I was very much interested in ordering a set of Fiberskyns (Crimplock Symmetry) for 3 of my Gon Bops CA congas. The guy I spoke to gave the exact Remo product numbers to order for my quinto, conga and tumba. I then placed my order from one of their dealers.

Finding your desired Remo synthetics for LP should be easy 'cause they're probably the most common. In fact, online stores, such as Musician's Friend, Music 123, Interstate Music, etc., will indicate that certain Remo heads are specifically for LP drums. Nevertheless, I still suggest that you call Remo, too, just to be doubly sure.

Best of luck,
