Hello Jure,

Delaporte was a great french congas maker, good harware, beautiful skins, shells made like wine barrel.
Beautiful sound.
Here is a photo of a trio.

Michel Delaporte sell his brand to his barrel maker Michel Dussiaux. Some people say that the news congas are less quality than the older congas made with Delaporte. I don't know if it's true... All Delaporte drum's I have try are really really good traditional drums.

Thanks guys for reply. I will post them in picture thread too. Congalou nice requinto - do you sell it? :D I guess not? :D

So,.....

due help from just few pepole this is what i know till now (hope to know more):

Michel Delaporte was (i don't know if he is still alive) a french musician played percussion and later on a percussion maker-builder. He had a percussion workshop till around 1990 (someone say's till 1994) and then sold his brand to Michel Dussiaux (Saint-Georges/Cher, France). In the 80's he's congas were knownin Europ as best congas and were played by many famous musicians. He build he's congas to last with best hardware, wood and skins. Congas were build like wine barrels and the skins were hand picked from Irish mountains.

All these information are from people who may know something or just played them and not necessary to be true. If anyone know somethin more or i wrote something wrong please reply - myself and forum will appreciate it.

So now to my set of Michel Delaporte (MD) congas:

First of all thanks to Susanne who sold them to me,...

Model: MD Deluxe
29,5cm - 11 3/4" Conga
32 cm - 12,5" Tumba

Year 1990. They have thick wood, are suprisingly light and have mule skins (original ones). He even put rubber on the bottom so they cannot be damaged from all sort of ground. As you can see on pictures they are like new and were played hardly ever. Skins are something i could only dream of. Smooth like an angel :D You don't have feeling that you play congas at all,...heaven,... And finaly the sound! Ahhh i will post video and let you decice,....another heaven id said,.... :D

Very, very nice looking drums.
The wood looks a lot like the phillipine luan / mahogany wood
used on the old Gon Bops. That wood is light too.

I think it's a kind of mahogany too, and you're right about the weight, the drum is light.
