No More Sol's - Killing a rumor!

There's been a rumor I've read here and there that Akbar Moghaddam formerly of Sol Drums and know with DW making their Gon Bops congas and bongos had a few left over Sol shells and hardware left around.

...and that maybe, just maybe you could get your hands one one if you got a hold of the guy.

Well I was a big fan of those Sol drums, but didn't get around to buying any. And for me personally the Gon Bops stuff isn't quite the same..

Anyways, I was in at Haight Ashbury Music Center the other day and was speaking to Massoud Badakhshan. This man used to employ Akbar, purchased the rights to Valje from Tom Flores, and then sold the rights to Martin Cohen of LP, and is a friend of Martin Cohen.

Akbar is not making Sol's "under the table", they aren't available at all. Akbar doesn't have his own shop.

This not quite all true my friend. Akbar has a 'covenent-not-to-compete' clause in his contract with DW, but he still has some shells left - down at DW. The only ones available are those with the high belly and slim look, oak only. He must sell these through DW, if you wish to order them. You can reach Akbar at DW and ask what is still in the mix. I know, as I have seen them.

Cheers

Akbar has about 30 or so of the slim model in oak. They are at DW and must be purchased through DW via Akbar. They all need skins and hardware, so iIam not sure what it would take to get them nor id he has the desire to put them together, but they will cost $750.+ at least.
