Brothers,

Anyone have any ideas on the Live Sound range of Meinl congas, when they were made what is the modern equivalent from Meinl.
They are wooden bodied and have trad rims.

Any info appreciated

Here's a pic of my Meinl. Its 11.75 inches and I've been told that there never was that size made. Its rubberwood and has a pretty good traditional sound and a muleskin head (thankyou Isaac). I've never used it as a quinto but, it sounds good when tightened up - deep, dark tone, woody slap although not crackin' high enough for me. It used to belong to Bill Summers. I got it on eBay for 90.00 plus 70.00 customs (Canada) plus 65.00 for the head and a few hours to strip & refinish. Hope this helps! Buck

Hello Buck...I had two of the Meinl Live Sound Series Fiberglass drums. One was a 10" quinto that would scream like a Banshee, and the other was a 13" Tumba that sounded nice and boomy especially with a "Fat Congas" skin I put on it. I researched a little bit on the sizes and found that the Fiberglass series only came in 10,11,12,and 13" sizes. If this is true for the wood series than I am guessing that yours might be considered a 12"? . Anyway, your drum really looks nice in the picture. Happy drumming.

I forgot to mention that I considered my drums to be a "High End" set from Meinl. They were built like tanks and I am guessing that they were at least 10 years old.
