First let me explain what I want out of this. I'm new to this and I will be getting classes soon. I don't like buying cheap, but at the same time I don't expect to be playing on stage in the future, this is something I want to do for myself. I want to learn and be happy with the choice of the conga I purchase.

That being said I am looking at two: Giovanni Galaxy and Armando Peraza Accents. Reason for the AP Accents is because I grew up listening and loving Santana. But I look at the Gio's and they look like quality congas.

Are they that different in quality? Can I be wrong in choosing either one? Please help. All answers will be greatly appreciated.

Ray---Both of those are fine choices but the Gio's are wood and the Accents are fiberglass. You first have to decide which type you want. If your just playing for your own enjoyment, I would choose the wood. Wood is a lot warmer in tone and not as much volume.
If you want to crank them and let the neighbors know your alive get the fiberglass.
Hope that helps.

Good call KK.
Armando, has played Gon Bops mainly. But due to their demise, he went with LP, since seeing Raul and Karl Perazzo using them IMO. PLus free drums for Endorsement. Though Armando did endorse the Afro's.
Too bad th LP Valje Armando series didn't catch on. That run seemed like a very short one.
