Any one using the Gator bags?

Good price, are they road worthy?
Much cheaper than Lp made ones.
I have the LP padded bags, but the wheels would totally help moving 3 drums at once  My collapsable dolly is a kludge.

Hi Tonio,
I have been using one for my quinto for a couple of years, and 2 others for my other drums. I have bought 12 of them for my group and others. The zipper on the one I use the most is starting to separate from the rest of the bag at the bottom. I haven't heard of problems from the others. We have to be careful at gigs and in the park because all of us have the same bags now. They are a good deal, but probably not as durable as some of the higher end bags. I do like the less top-heavy balance of the skin down design, and the wheels. It fits a big Skin on Skin tumbadora fine. A 10 inch quinto is kind of floating around inside, and with the quinto inside, the bottom sometimes rubs on the ground and is wearing a hole.

Hola Jorge,
Thanks for the reply
Hmm , so the reinforced bottom is thin?Could you possible put some ply wood inside without making a taller conga not fit?
How are the wheels, are they durable? I have seen many luggage type wheels come off, or get at bent rendering them to the trash.
For $60 its not bad deal, even my LP bags are ripping the seams. I even had to resew the shoulder strap seam.
I wonder if the LP wheeled bags are worth the extra $55?

I've got a Gator with wheels and an LP without, and a very old Toca that my Meinl was shipped in. 3 different stages of wear and deterioration. I've prolonged all of their lives by using a glue called GOOP. All GOOPs are the same-plumber's GOOP, automotive GOOP, etc. I was turned onto it by the guy who made my Port-a Bote, a folding dinghy. He buys it in 55 gal drums. Anytime you see a wear hole or a scuff, smear some GOOP on it. For more serious tears,I save old pieces of leather and cut it to shape and, you guessed it, glue it on with GOOP. I have a fabric fishing tackle case with wheels for my accessories, mikes, etc. Everytime it starts coming apart, zippers tearing out, more GOOP. The stuff is amazing. There's not much that it won't glue. I get mine at Big Lots for 2.95. Once opened, it has a fairly short shelf life, so, do all your gluing at once. The repairs will look sloppy, but we're talking function over form! Good luck, Buck

I use that exact same bag for my Tumba, which is an LP Matador Custom... It's a heavy drum (I think) but those wheels make it really easy to drag up and down stairs and to and from my house. I totally think those bags are worth it. The bottom may be thin, though I haven't noticed, but I would have enough room to add a piece of cardboard or wood to add more protection and still fit the drum.

buckoh, thanks , but I'll pass on the GOOP, well maybe for some other things might be the ticket.
Garvin -drag up & down stairs? woah, I guess they will hold up then.
Thanks.
