Hi!

Me and my wife have just started on the congas. And we love it.
Now I've found a used (8 years) Meinl Pro wooden conga-set for what I belive is a good price.
Would you recommend these for a beginner, or should I go for a new beginners-set
for instance Pearl Congas PWC-202DX.

From the ad:
Quinto, 11 3/4" Conga, Tumba 12 1/2"
Material: Two ply Rubber Wood
Features: True Skin Buffalo Heads10 mm strong tuning lugs 4 mm rounded SSR-Rims Chrome plated hardware

The price is approx
570 USD or 400 EURO

They are a great intermediate/pro drum , Please dont make the mistake many do as I did by buying the hobby drums if you want to develope your skills like i think you may those meinl s are a great set Flaotunes I believe , I have the classics very similar , I am at the point of changing the skins for thickker mule as the standard are a little thin and ring out overtones . that said you as a beginer wont notice Id say go for them they are the perfect tool for you and your better half .

I wish I had a wife as interested in congas you are a lucky guy.

I bought a set of these.. they sound great.

The cheapo hobby drums (sold as 10"+11" usually) suck... I bought some before and they are bad, bad, bad.

If you're lucky the Trueskins on the Floatunes may be thick enough to give you a nice sound.. my conga has a 2.5-3mm thick Trueskin on it and it sounds lovely, if a little dull (but then they had been left tuned-up by the previous owner).

I am getting some new skins this week! :D
