they almost look like valje however the seller indicates that it looks like they are carved from a tree. most likely from a custom builder.
refurbishing these sounds like a good project.

Those are one-piece, not staved... look at the grain!

Those would be a GREAT project, I would think. Might even be a wonderful pair of drums! I don't think one-piece drums are always cheap. Motherland sells one-piece tweneboa wood for less than $500 US per drum, but Fredrico's one-piece bubinga's average $2,500 US per drum. It would be great if you could figure out the actual wood.

Thanks Marco for bringing those to my attention (I hope that you didn't want to buy them, if so, e-mail me and we hopefully can arrange something)!
I got them for 200$ plus shipping (shipping is almost same price unfortunately, but you don't get such chances often here in Europe)!
