Hi everybody,
I just wanted to ask whether somebody knows differences among Remo fiberskyn Crimplock, Mondo,
Tucked and Weatherking. All these types are described on Remo web, but they don´t speak much about differences of their acustic. Any opinion or recommendation?

I had no idea there were 4 different heads that remo offered for congas. I've only used the crimplock, which had a supprisingly good tone. I would suggest you get some natural skins, but thats just my opinion.

The new tucket fyberskin are the one my Conga player is using,it looks just like a natural skin with the hoop type.If you decide to go for the natural skins,Mule skin is the way to go.

Is all marketing names...for congas and bongos, the heads are the Fyberskin Type 3 Film.
Fyberskin is a name Remo has been giving for years to "natural looking" synthetic heads. In the 90s, they developed the Fyberskin Type 3 that is the one for afro-cuban percussion. So the other Fyberskins they have are for other type of instruments. Different "films" or "sheets" that they use for heads. Now, they have two Fyberskins Type 3 films head for congas and bongos, one with regular rims that is the original one and another one with rims like natural heads or tucked. (This is following the succes of the NuSkyns that were tucked or with traditional rings like the natural heads. NuSkyn is another type of film that is more controlled in the sound in comparison with Fyberskins).
The Weatherking is a type of "regular drumhead" for trap drums and used for timbales also.
I know it could be confusing. Weatherking is their most popular type of drumhead and I believe comes in different type of thickness that provide you volume, overtones and other things that you should take in consideration for the sound you are seeking. Some have coat, that avoid some of the overtones. I believe they have three basic Weatherkings, Emperor, Ambassador and Diplomat.
They make other kinds of heads but is just the type of films. Lots of techno talk when you read about them.
But going back to the Mondo...that is how they call other heads that are not for trap drums or specialty drums like the afro-cuban types, brazilian, etc, etc.
I hope this helps. I know is hard to understand and is all marketing. (Some heads sound alike and the only difference is not even noticeable to the untrained ear).

I can speak for the difference between crimplock and tucked REMO skins.
I got crimplocks on the Bobby Allende's Pearl congas and I hate them because of the one single fact, their hoop or whatever you can call the ring that is tight by a rim, is made like typical drum set skin. When I had a gig on a hot day in june last year, my crimplock quinto cracked right there.
Tucked fyberskyn that i have now is the same material it is just like Raymond said. So, if you need artificial skin on you congas (at least for quinto) go for tucked; indurance has it's credit.
BTW: Ain't that cheap at all those REMO skins.
