Hello,

I recently aquired what I thought was a Giovanni Galaxy quinto but when I measured it compared with my LP Classic Conga, it measured exactly the same. I measured 11" from bearing edge to edge of the shell for the LP Classic Conga and the Gio Galaxy quinto. Does anyone have an actual measurement of the LP classic or Giovanni quinto? I also measured my LP Classic Tumba as 12" instead of 12.5". Are LP's measurements different than the standard 11", 11.75" and 12.5" measurements?

Thanks in advance

The Galaxy quinto is 11" and there is a Galaxy requinto at 9-3/4".
Check the LP Catalog on their website, it has all the dimensions of all their congas.

I know the Gio and Galaxy comfort rims are special and different thatn the regular LPs. LP claims the sizes are the same 11 3/4 and 12 1/2 but you have to be careful because of the difference in rims. (If look for synthetic heads you will see that Evans and Remo have different heads for the Gio and Galaxy models. By the way, that is the "new" Gio and Galaxys because the original ones had the same rims as the LPs. LP started making a different rim for them a few years back. However, I do not know when.

Also, check if what you have is the requinto, availabe in both Gio and Galaxys, that is 9 3/4.

Saludos!
