After doing some research I saw that Meinl makes a chrome plated steel stand that is supposed to be universal and folds up easily. Can anyone tell me if they've had any experience with these stands...good or bad? Thanks. Check it out http://www.music123.com/Meinl-Fit-All-C ... 7778.music

I had the opportunity of testing them out not too long ago, unfortunately I cant speak well of them.
While the collapsible part and folding up is conveniant for carrying/storage, I felt they inadequately supported the drum.

The stands cause the drums to wobble around far too much for my liking and I felt as though I would break them if I used them at a gig.

For what i feel is the ultimate in stands you cannot go past LP's collapsible cradle stands. Sure they are a bit pricier, and heavier, but the hardware, finish and support and stability they have is second to none. They are stands that would surely last you a life time also. (Catalogue number: LP636) As seen below, modelled by yours truly :p

Hey thanks, again like with the Pearl PC900 I'm hearing mixed reviews of the Meinl stand. And I thought choosing the congas was difficult.

Yo bro,

Go into a drum shop that distributes them, set one up and see for yourself.
Im considered a bit of a heavy handed player and they moved and wobbled all over the place.
Even with simple HT HT HT HT the stands wobbled around too much for my liking.
Best thing to do is just go in and try some out yourself.

Seriously though ... I just bought 2 giovanni congas with
these stands and am glad to know they are sturdy. I'm a pretty heavy handed player too.

I know the thread's a bit old and current minds may be made up, but for the sake of future searchers...

I find my pair of congas on these Meinl stands to be very very steady. I'm playing in a stand-up situation with congas beside a snare, and variably use a lot of bass notes.

These do not wander on me, and I find the overall feel pretty solid.

I appreciate how closely I can get the congas to each other (practically touching) and that I still have room to sneak a single bottom mic between them.

The way they set down is truly marvelous.

A dissenting opinion, but a happy customer. :cool:
