Just wondering why you have the congas you have? Price, quality, etc?
I play Meinl Pros. Got them because they have nice heavy hardware, the finish is great, the insides are cleaner than others I looked at - not as much excess glue, and I got them at a good price.

Hey Mangorockfish! Meinl are very good in my opinion - I like very much their warm and rich sound.
I use LP Classic which I bought 15 years ago - at that time the Classic model was the top of LP, now I have the feeling that same model is not same quality nowadays. Or is it because they aged, and sound better after 15 years than new ones? :)

Hello.
I also play with LP Classics. I have quinto, conga and tumba. I tried quite many different but I chose these because they were the best at that time. Of course they weren't the cheapest but you know, poor man can't afford having cheap instruments:)

I have LP Galaxy in Fiberglass. I bought them because they have a great sound and when I did my research were the best fiberglass congas out there during the time I bought them back in 1998.

Saludos!

I've had my Patatos for a while, usually play them live. They include a Tumba, Conga, Quinto and a Super Quinto (Man that drum has got a cracken sound). I have other Congas to, but there is something sentimental about my CP's. I know they're not really considered 'bad a$$' drums but there's something about them that is very comfortable to play. I was always using the scuffed and nicked up Jr. high & highschool congas when I was young and the CP's were the first I could actually afford to own.

I play on LP's Classic Model congas. In my humble opinion, LP's Classics still one of the best sounding drums available in the market these days. Very suitable drums for folkloric to popular music applications.

Well everyone should know by now that I play Pearl Elite wood and fiberglass congas. Yes I do have an endorsement with them. But I honestly like them. I do have a place for the LP "classic" 28 inch model, which I played for many years, until I got my Pearls. Of course I have played on many many brands of congas and their are others like Timba, that I like and of course Skin on Skin congas by Jay. MoPerc out of Canada are some of the best that I have ever seen but haven't had the opportunity yet to play them, but they sure look good. "JC" Johnny Conga...... :;):

I play MEINL Mongo Santamaria series. A Conga and Tumba. LIke Johny I have an endorsement with them, OR should that be I like them so in turn I endorse them. They are beautiful sounding congas. The hardware is of good thickness not making them too heavy. The sound, what can I say about the sound... beautiful.

I started off with Lp Aspire then moved my way up to Lp Galaxy Gio Series. The LP Galaxy Gio Series have a nice sound to them. (But i know there are other conga models that can produce a better or equal quality of sound) I had them about a 1.5 yrs and they are still in good shape.

I play Wooden LP Classics, quinto, conga y tumba. I like the sound, look but the skin is very thin. Has one played Bauer Congas? I met a cat that plays them and he thinks they are better than LP. Very beautiful drums
