Hi fellow percussionists.

I am in need of assitance. I have adquired some skins straight for an arboutor. they still have the fat on the under side and fur. I know enough to get trim the fat and shave the fur. but this is where I get stumped.

What do I do about the smell?
What chemicals (if any) should I use?
how do I get the skin nice and even in thickness?

any help would be greatly appreciated. the skins were given to me as a gift. silly me thought they would be already for me to soak and mount on my drums. i didnt realise they would be raw.

thanks every one.

For treating the skin what is used is SandPaper,or some tools used in furniture making to even the wood, the smell could be fight it with a dosification of clorex and water.
