Hello people, hope all is well,

i'm fairly new to the congaworld and have recently bought a pair of pearl elites. I've ordered some nice thick cow skins to go with them. Presumably, they'll give me a slightly warmer, richer tone but i'm wondering whether it will affect slaps. I'm hoping that a thicker skin will give me a crisper slap so that my amateur technique will not sound quite so amateur. can anybody confirm this 4 me, would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

YMMV (your milage may vary), but IMO thicker skin (at least) on quinto will not give you cripser slaps on a quinto.
Of course it depends on the drum, the skin and the drummer.
Most often thicker skins give the drum a more "warmer" tone.
