While browsing Motherland Music's website looking at their African percussion instruments, I found some interesting conga
drums. The congas are hand-made in Mali, West Africa from a solid piece of hardwood (Lingue or Gunie), much like the djembes they offer. An all-steel tuning system and calfskin heads are added on here in the US by Motherland Music. I thought these drums might appeal to someone who is looking for something unique. They also offer one-piece congas made of light weight wood as well as congas with a rope tuning system. Check them out at http://www.motherlandrhythmart.com/drums.htm.
