I play a set of Matadors (11.75" and 12.5"). I purchased the 11.75" several months ago on eBay. It is used and the head shows signs of a lot of playing. I recently purchased the tumbadora new. Is there a way to break in new conga heads? The reason I ask is because my tumba seems to have a rather limited tuning range and it doesn't sound very good. It sounds "new" (for lack of a better description). Is there any way to fix this?

I forgot to mention that the heads on both drums are the original Matador heads.
