Conga / hand drum material / construction - fiberglass vs. ashwood vs. oak vs. etc..

Hey fellow makers,

With a love for hand drums, I am now looking to get into a set of premier drums.

I am looking at the LP Galaxy Giovanni's, as I have been told they are great. What is the difference in the fiberglass, and the wood models?

Also,
What would be the difference in LP's North American Ash wood, as opposed to the Gon Pops Siam Oak wood models?

I have also heard of Beech wood? What separates these different woods? Sound? Durability?? any ideas??
