Set of cedar shells - possibly for sale?

Postby deerskins » Sat Aug 21, 2010 9:54 pm

I have been toying with the idea of selling my shells for a while now.
Originally, I was planning on skinning them up, but they've been sitting on the shelf for almost 10 years!
That, plus, financial reasons and the fact that I have a set hardware tuned ones (also cedar) is making me consider selling this set.

I brought them back in 2002. When I got them, they were painted black and they had some age at that time.
So, I am guessing these to be at least 15-20 years old if not older.

Anyhow, if I get a nice offer, I may sell them. Otherwise, maybe I'll rope em up in the next decade :)

Those are great looking shells. Did you say they're cedar? Where did they come from? I'd have hardware made for those beauties.

Yeah man, cedar. Where else would I get them? ;)
Noooo, don't put hardware on these!
Cedar cracks easily when you tension with hardware.
Well, it depends on the actual kind of cedar and the individual tree, cut and thickness, but it would be a shame to put hardware on these!

Definitely no hardware. Rope sounds and feels better.. Lighter too. Of course, it's a bear to tune at first, but after that you're pretty ok. Nice looking shells.

are you still selling these? I have a friend in Puerto Rico who might be interested in buying the shells and getting some of his elders fix up heads and hardware or heads and rope for him. Let me know :)
