What instrument is this guy playing? Looks homemade, but maybe not. I'd like to know more.

He invented it , built it himself , and as you can see, he can play it.

I ran across this today while looking up something else on youtube. I was blown away. This is really really impressive. If someone just told me about it, I'd shake my head and tell em' "no way it can be done remotely well". This dude is really really inspirational. I would never think of trying something like this, but he literally just smashed down a stupid wall I didn't even realized I had built up in my own mind. Very cool.

I'm glad I searched as well. I almost just posted a "hey, check this out" thread. Hope to see some more traffic and feedback on this though. Might be worth its own thread just toa hear what folks think about this kind of thing.
