There's a rhythm/song that is played during the intro to Maraca's "Obbatala Ayacuna" from the album "Tremenda Rumba". It also appears at the 1:28 mark in Clave y Guaguanco's "Na Francisca" from the album "Dejala en la Puntica". What's it called?

I refuse to believe that there is no one here who knows the answer to this question. I'll email either of the songs to somebody if they are lacking.

I was able to find a small clip of the song at:

Sounds like a bata toque for Obatala like the title of Maraca's song. Maybe thats your answer right there, Obatala Ayaguna is a path of Obatala. I'm not familiar with the different toques for each Oricha but I have a book that shows a variation called the basic and a second called Bolembo but thats for the Oru Seco and on that piece they are singing. Not sure if that helped but maybe it narrowed it down. Peace.

Dave, no that's not what I meant. Unfortunately, that clip ends literally seconds before the rhythm changes... it becomes all bata, with some (I think) Lucumi lyrics.

Here's a temporary link to download Maraca's song. Hopefully somebody can finally tell me what it is.
http://www.sendspace.com/file/2odwacAnd by the way, since nobody seems to own either Dejala en la Puntica, or Tremenda Rumba, I just have to add that you really should do yourselves a favor and acquire both of them. They are both phenomenal albums, as you may notice if you listen to the above song.

The song is to Oddudua.. It's "Okuo Ago Lona"
That song is also on track 13 of Johnny Santos's "Hacia El Amor" CD. They also combine "Baba Loro Que!" Seems to fit well together.

Same song in the song "Ña Francisca" on the Clave y Guaguanco CD Dejala en la Puntica, it's a toque cantado a Oddudua. The CD is excellent, definitely worth checking out if it is still available. The song "Mamaita what youv'e got" is a guarapachangueo with bata in english, LMAO.
