I search for to exchange some bata rhythms played on 3 bata at the same
time.
I look for the hats next one:

I propose in exchange

What do you mean for 3 Batas at the same time.

Laurant means ,if I may, that he is playing the set of Bata drums simultaneously,standing up with the drums in a specially made Bata stand. LP has just come out with one. Also you must know how to play 3 at a time of course.....JC JOHNNY CONGA...

You are right Johnny Conga,I made the question becouse even if you could set up all three Batas in one stand,you cann't carry on all three differents Patterns at the same time, and not even with congas where only two patterns could be carry on at the same time.

You are right you can't play all the parts "as is' but you can definetly play all 3. I have seen it done, Cachete Maldonado does it with Batacumbele, and there are others I have seen play all 3 Batas simultaneously. Of course you can;t play "the llames" (the calls),but there is a "system" for playing all 3....At your Service...JC JOHNNY CONGA....

Ok now I feel better! I have been able to play 2 bata parts on congas in a way that the open tones were all there and some of the 3rd part, but it was impossible to get all the slaps in.
I need to check out Cachete doing that. What is he up to now anyway?

The two batá toques that Cachete used most with Batacumbele were Rumba Iyesá, and Chacha Olokefún. They blend very nice with the songo patterns that "Mañenguito" played on the tumbadoras. I don't know if you guys were aware, but Cachete suffered a partial stroke last year that paralized for a while a side of his body. Gracias a Dios, and with some therapy he is doing fine now and back playing. He just released a new Cd with his folkloric troupe "Cachete Maldonado y Los Majaderos".

Yes the first two patterns of the Bata grooving have been added(blended) by some congeros becouse that's the purpose of those patterns(even when involving some syncopation),to create the foundation for the really heavy 'canto'(singing) of the 'Iya'(Tambor-Major),also in synchronization with the bells pattern.

I didn't know Cachete had a stroke!! Glad to hear he is ok now!! and back at performing.
